Leadership ‘Trainers’ – lessons from the operating theatre


It can be a bit difficult to make out, but the above photograph is of a set of three handmade model farm implements that hang on the wall in our living room.

My great grandfather, George Ledingham, of Clatt, Aberdeenshire, made the two ploughs and the harrow in 1894 as the concluding element in his seven-year blacksmith apprenticeship.

The quality of workmanship and incredible detail is a testimony to both his craftsmanship and the quality of the learning process he had experienced.
